3 business ideas that I am interested in would be

A one stop shop beauty salon

A coffee shop/stand

Laundromat/vending machine

I have always been interested in the beauty industry, and I’ve always wanted to one day go to esthetician school. It’s not a very unique idea, but as something that I am interested in, I would definitely want to create a business plan for this. The services I would offer would include, facials, eyelash extensions, waxing, etc. I would also want to expand and offer spaces for independent estheticians or nail techs to rent out a room or part of the salon to build their own clientele while charging them rent.

Another idea I had was a coffee shop. Again, not too unique but as a past employee of a coffee shop, I was able to learn how to make drinks and customize them for the customer. I would start as a coffee stand with no seating but would eventually expand to accommodate for seating as well. I would enjoy running my own cafe one day and creating a space for students to study or grab a coffee.

The last idea I had was owning a laundromat and vending machines. I’m not sure how profitable a laundromat is but I’ve heard people do well in certain prime locations. On the other hand, it may be hard to keep up and run because of the number of machines that may need servicing. Same thing with a vending machine, they do well in high foot traffic areas rather than in normal locations. But if put in a location that has a lot of people that walk or in waiting areas, they do well.

I think that Eric Hanberg’s presentation was very informative. I liked how we were provided with visuals, especially around the topic of money. I learned that progress is not linear and there will be times of high highs and low lows as an entrepreneur. I enjoyed listening and I think I was left feeling motivated. Hearing that Eric began to promote a book that wasn’t even written yet was surprising at first but ended up being a smart move. Not knowing the market and testing the book to see how it would do before putting effort, time, and money into it is a good way to minimize risk as a entrepreneur. I also enjoyed hearing about all the projects Eric has worked on such as the City of Tacoma podcasts and how Eric created them and brought them to life. I think overall the presentation was helpful for the class and allowed us to see entrepreneurship firsthand. The documentary startup.com was an interesting watch. Viewers got to watch as a company was formed and finished. It was interesting to see everything that goes into forming a startup company. We got to see the power struggle and everything that can go wrong at any moment that can lead to the end of their company. It was a great way to see what goes on inside and what it really takes to run a real company. I believe that the break-in was an inside job. It was either accomplished by someone on the competition’s team or someone who was let go and didn’t agree with that decision. The person who committed the break-in knew where everything as and took everything that was of value such as khaleel’s computer which had important paperwork. I think this could’ve only been done by someone who knew the building, knew the people, and knew where everything was kept. I don’t think I would’ve fired anyone.
